In the first and second rakʿahs of the daily obligatory prayers, one must recite Sūrat al-Ḥamd followed by another surah
Sūrat al-Ḥamd

bismil lāhir raḥmānir raḥīm

In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the Ever-Merciful.

alḥamdu lillāhi rabbil ʿālamīn

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds,

arraḥmānir raḥīm

the All-Beneficent, the Ever-Merciful,

māliki yawmid dīn

Master of the Day of Retribution.

iyyāka naʿbudu wa iyyāka nastaʿīn

You [alone] do we worship, and to You [alone] do we turn for help.

ihdinaṣ ṣirāṭal mustaqīm

Guide us on the straight path,

ṣirāṭal ladhīna anʿamta ʿalayhim ghayril maghḍūbi ʿalayhim wa laḍ ḍāllīn

the path of those whom You have blessed – such as have not incurred Your wrath, nor are astray.

After reciting sura al–hamd, we recite a complete sura of the Qur’an like sura al–tawhid or other sura fo the Qur’an.

Sura al–tawhid

bismil lāhir raḥmānir raḥīm

In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the Ever-Merciful.

qul huwal lāhu aḥad

Say, ‘He is Allah, One.’

allāhuṣ ṣamad

‘Allah, the Referent for All Needs.’

lam yalid wa lam yūlad

‘He neither begets nor is He begotten,’

wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan aḥad

‘and there is no one comparable to Him.’

After reciting Sura al–tawhid, we should say ‘allāhu akbar’

‘allāhu akbar’
Allah is greater [ than what He is described as]

and then perform rukūʿ.
